Weather Alerts
Weather alerts in the Cinque Terre should always be taken seriously. The area is fragile, with steep slopes, coastal villages, terraces and exposed trails. In the event of heavy rain or adverse weather conditions, specific safety measures may be introduced.
During a weather alert, some services may be suspended, such as ferry connections, and restrictions may apply to access to the National Park trails. The Municipality of Riomaggiore may also adopt self-protection measures for Riomaggiore, Manarola, Volastra and the other localities within the area.
Before and during your visit, we recommend checking the official channels of the Municipality, the Cinque Terre National Park and ARPAL Liguria, and always following the instructions provided by local authorities and staff in the area.
Group Visits
To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit while respecting local residents and public spaces, the Municipality of Riomaggiore has introduced specific rules for groups accompanied by tour guides, tour leaders or other designated representatives. These rules apply throughout the municipal area.
Maximum 25 visitors per group, excluding the guide or tour leader and children aged two or under.
Earphones are mandatory for groups of more than 10 visitors, allowing participants to listen to explanations without disturbing others. Megaphones and other voice amplification devices are prohibited.
No stopping in designated areas, including pedestrian tunnels and their entrances, Via San Giacomo, Piazza Rio Finale, Via Colombo, Via Birolli, Strada per Palaedo and access points to the Via dell'Amore. Groups must also avoid blocking stairways and narrow village streets.
Responsible group management: guides and tour leaders must keep pedestrian routes clear and maintain sufficient distance from other groups. Organisers must also avoid scheduling several groups in the same areas at the same time.
