Via Colombo

It is a steep street that follows the natural development of the village, from the upper part, where the parking areas are located, down to the sea. This is where much of daily village life is concentrated: along the route, homes, small shops, restaurants and services follow one another, in a continuous balance between local life and tourism.

Here you will find many useful services for visitors and residents alike, including small food shops, pharmacies, ATMs and places to eat. The street is also one of the most representative places for an informal break: along the way it is easy to find street food options, such as fried fish to eat while walking or sitting along the route, together with typical products such as focaccia, pesto and local wine.

Many lanes and stairways branch off from Via Colombo towards the upper parts of the village. Climbing along these routes leads to places such as the Church of San Giovanni Battista and Riomaggiore Castle, while following the street downhill takes you directly to the harbour.

The street is entirely pedestrian: from the railway station, you access it directly through a pedestrian tunnel, while from the upper part of the village it connects with the parking area. The full walk down to the sea takes about 10 minutes.

Because of its slope, it can be demanding with luggage or during the hottest hours, but it remains the main and most direct connection within the village.
