Manarola Marina
Manarola marina is the point where the village meets the sea, one of the most recognisable and lived-in spaces of the Cinque Terre. It is not a traditional beach, but a small harbour set among the rocks, where the colourful houses seem to rise directly from the cliff.
The landscape is defined by the ramp descending towards the sea, along which fishermen’s boats are pulled ashore, and by a series of rocks and platforms framing the bay. The water quickly becomes deep and clear, making this one of the main places for swimming, despite the absence of sand.
The marina is a multifunctional space, used for sea access, for pausing and looking back at the village, and also as a starting point for short walks along the coast. Continuing along the rocks leads to quieter areas, such as the Palaedo landing, a small rocky inlet popular for swimming and snorkelling, and the path towards Punta Bonfiglio, one of Manarola’s main viewpoints.
The view from below towards the village, with the houses standing directly above the rock, is one of the most iconic images of the Cinque Terre, especially at sunset, when the light enhances the colours of the façades.
Useful info
Access to the sea is mainly from rocks and platforms. Caution is recommended, along with suitable footwear, especially when the sea is rough.
How to reach us
The marina is easy to reach on foot: from the railway station, walk through the pedestrian tunnel and follow the main street down to the sea. From there, a short descent leads directly to the small harbour. The walk takes only a few minutes.
