Getting to Cinque Terre by car is possible, but we strongly advise against it. Our region is vertical, roads are narrow and winding and the lack of parking is a real daily issue, but it is also our beauty and not adding more parking lots contributes to guaranteeing our authenticity.

Having said that, if you have no choice, you can obviously drive here. You have two options regarding the highway exit: Carrodano-Levanto if you come from Genoa and La Spezia if you come from Parma or Tuscany.

Exiting in Carrodano, follow directions to Levanto and once you enter the village, at the second roundabout, follow those to Cinque Terre. To get there you will take the coastal road and, if you are not in a rush, you can stop and visit the Marian shrines that overlook our five villages and take some decidedly panoramic photos.

Exiting in La Spezia you will immediately find directions to Cinque Terre and in this case, if traffic in town is low, the road to reach Riomaggiore or Manarola is a much faster one.

Finally, we advise you to check with the accommodation you booked for detailed information on where to park. If they can’t help, you can consult the dedicated page on this site.
